Six Standout Performers From the Blackhawks’ Successful Six-Game Road Trip ...Middle East

Sport by : (Bleacher Nation) -

The Chicago Blackhawks just finished a six-game road trip with a bang! The 5-1 win over the Red Wings on Sunday afternoon gave them three straight wins to end the trip. They come home with a 3-2-1 mark on the trip.

When you consider the first game of the trip was the first — and, still, the only — bad loss the Blackhawks have suffered this season (6-3 in Winnipeg), closing the trip the way they did is extremely impressive.

A couple noteworthy team stats:

The Blackhawks scored 15 goals in the third period on the trip; that’s the most in the NHL since Oct. 30. More importantly, the Blackhawks allowed only five goals in the third period on the trip. Being plus-nine in the third period and overtime against that list of opponents is excellent. The Blackhawks converted 42.9 percent of their power plays on the road trip. Some of that has come from the coaches changing the personnel to have Artyom Levshunov on the top unit. The Blackhawks were 3-for-3 on the power play in Detroit without Frank Nazar in the lineup.

There were some standout individual performances on the trip from all over the roster. Here are some notable players who come home hot.

Bob Frid-Imagn Images Connor Bedard — 3 goals, 10 assists, 13 points, 22 shots on net

Bedard had a hat trick against Ottawa before the Blackhawks left Chicago, and then produced four multi-point games on the road trip. When the win in Detroit went final, Bedard sat alone on top of the NHL leaderboard with 25 points.

Tyler Bertuzzi — 7 goals, 1 assist, 8 points, 12 shots on net, 4 power play goals

Six of Bertuzzi’s goals came in the final three games of the trip, including one power play goal in each of those games. He had two multi-point games in October; he finished the trip with three straight multi-point performances.

André Burakovsky — 5 goals, 3 assists, 8 points, 16 shots on net

Burakovsky scored a goal in five of the six games on the road trip. He had two multi-point games in October and three on the road trip. Burakovsky also led the team with five takeaways on the trip.

Artyom Levhunov — 6 assists, 4 power play assists, 16:42 ATOI

Levshunov had three assists in nine games before the Blackhawks hit the road. He had six assists on the trip; Levshunov was credited with a helper in five of the six games and finished the trip with two on Sunday. Levshunov also finished the trip second on the roster with eight blocked shots and four takeaways on the six games.

Bob Frid-Imagn Images Spencer Knight — 4 games, 2-1-1, .921 save percentage, 1 shutout

After allowing six goals in Winnipeg, Knight stopped 103 of 108 shots in his last three games on this trip.

Arvid Söderblom — 2 games, 1-1-0, .945 save percentage, 66 saves against 70 shots

Full marks to Söderblom for a spectacular performance in Detroit to close out the road trip.

The Blackhawks goaltending tandem stopped 195 of 210 shots on net on the trip, a .929 combined save percentage. That’s outstanding!
