NFL WEEK 10: CHICAGO BEARS VS. NEW YORK GIANTS — Everybody on the offense was eating good last week. Pro Football Focus had quarterback Caleb Williams down for his best game as a pro. Rookie tight end Colston Loveland earned NVP honors and was the NFC’s Offensive Player of the Week. Fellow rookie Kyle Monangai was given the Angry Runs scepter for his efforts in Week 9. The offensive line cracked the top-10 in its position group rankings. Wide receiver DJ Moore threw a touchdown pass. It was a week to rememeber (to say the least).
WEEK 10 NOTEBOOK — GAME DAY EDITION
Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about Chicago’s defense. That unit allowed 42 points to a 40-year old Joe Flacco, who nearly quarterbacked the Bengals to an impossible come-from-behind win by throwing for 470 yards and 4 touchdowns. Wideouts Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins got whatever they wanted, whenever they wanted to get it. It was equal parts regrettable and forgettable. The good news is that the Giants do not have the same firepower the Bengals do. But the bad news is that anyone can be dangerous on any given Sunday.
A win pushes the Bears to 6-3 and would boost their playoff odds to 29 percent with a win, according to The Athletic’s Playoff Simulator. Chicago’s football team currently sits on the outside looking in while sitting with the No. 8 seed. It might be too early to be scoreboard watching. But if the Bears win today, it is something I’ll start doing soon.
