Abigail Landers, a junior at Del Oro High School in Loomis, California, has announced her verbal commitment to the University of Kentucky for 2027. She wrote on social media:
“I am so blessed and eager to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at the University of Kentucky! First and foremost, I want to give all of the glory to God — without Him, none of this would be possible. To my parents, I’m beyond grateful for their endless love, sacrifices, and support they’ve shown me throughout my whole journey. And, to my SMST coaches, Coach Tim and Coach Kyle, thank you for everything; I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for their extensive knowledge and dedication. I would also like to thank all of my other coaches over the years for all of the time and effort they’ve poured into developing me in and out of the water. And of course, my teammates, thank you for motivating me, pushing me, and making me laugh daily – it made the journey so much more fun. Finally, I’m truly honored and grateful to Coach Bret and Coach Karissa at the University of Kentucky for believing in me and giving me this incredible opportunity. GO CATS! ”
Landers swims for her school and the Sierra Marlins Swim Team. She specializes in sprint fly and free. As a sophomore at the CIF-Sac Joaquin Section Championships, she placed 2nd in the 100 fly and 5th in the 200 free, notching PBs in both events (54.73 and 1:51.86, respectively). She also swam lifetime bests in the 50 free (23.61) and 100 free (50.96), leading off the Del Oro freestyle relays.
In long-course season, Landers clocked a number of PBs at the end of the summer at Sacramento Futures. Those include the 100 free (58.18), 200 free (2:08.65), 50 fly (28.26), and 100 fly (1:02.81). She placed 13th in the 100 free, 11th in the 50 fly, and 14th in the 100 fly.

50 fly – 27.18 100 fly – 54.73 50 free – 23.61 100 free – 50.96 200 free – 1:51.86Landers will suit up for the Wildcats with fellow class of 2031 verbal commit Mia Eubank. She will follow in the footsteps of her mother, a former NCAA Division I swimmer at UCLA.
She told SwimSwam: “Besides training, I love surfing, baking, checking out coffee shops, paddle boarding, or watching the sunset. It’s an honor to have the opportunity to commit to a division one university and follow in my mom’s footsteps, as she was also a collegiate swimmer at UCLA. On top of my swim success, some of my other achievements outside of the pool are membership in the National Honors Society, an academic letter for a high GPA, and a Sierra Nevada Swimming Scholar Athlete.”
