Bluefish Swim Club’s Margot Levesque has verbally committed to Virginia Tech as a part of the Hokie women’s 2027 recruiting class.

Levesque was featured in the ‘Best of the Rest’ section in SwimSwam’s Way Too Early rankings of the girls’ swimming recruits in the high school class of 2027.

I am excited to announce my verbal commitment to Virginia Tech! I would like to thank my school friends, swim friends, family, coaches, and everyone else who supported me through this process. I am so grateful to Coach Mason, Coach Sergio and the Virginia Tech coaching staff for this opportunity. So excited to be a Hokie!!!

Levesque wrapped up her summer racing in a quartet of events at the Speedo Junior National Championships (LCM). Her best placement came in the 400 IM, where she earned a 13th-place 4:53.80. She came away from the meet with a lifetime best in the 200 breast, where she finished 2:38.16 to finish 54th. Additionally, she finished 71st in the 200 back (2:22.54) and 73rd in the 200 IM (2:23.47).

One of Levesque’s best short course showings was at the 2024 U.S. Open Championships in December. There, she swam two best times that still stand as her best today. She clocked 4:14.50 in the 400 IM to finish 5th overall at that meet. Her other best swim came in the 200 back, where she finished 19th in 1:59.58.

The Granby, Conn., native holds a number of other noteworthy best times, including the 1650 free that she swam at the 2023 edition of the New England Swimming Championships in 16:50.67. Her 500 free best sits at 4:57.29 from the NE 11-14 Age Group Championships from February of 2024. She also set a 200 IM best at the 2024 New England Senior Meet in 2:03.64

Best Times SCY:

200 IM: 2:03.64 400 IM: 4:14.50 200 Back: 1:59.58 500 Free: 4:57.29 1650 Free: 16:50.67

The Hokie women finished 9th at the 2025 ACC Swimming and Diving Championships a season ago.

Based on Levesque’s best times would have finished 49th in the 200 IM, 23rd in the 400 IM, and 40th in the 200 back at that meet.

Levesque still has almost two full years until she makes her collegiate debut, and she is already a potential middle-distance threat in one of the nation’s deepest conferences.

If she gets her 400 IM down below a 4:10 in the next two years, she will be firmly in contention for a championship final appearance within the ACC.

She dropped over a second from her best from March to December of 2024; that progression suggests a positive trajectory for her future swims.

Levesque is the lone publicized recruit in the Hokies’ 2027 class at the time of publication.
