The Mendocino Art Association (MCAA) is presenting an eclectic showing of members’ art. We welcome all community members to experience our showcase at the Corner Gallery in Ukiah, 201 South State Street. The new show will kick off on Ukiah’s First Friday Art Walk on November 7th, 2025, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Meet the artists, listen to live music from guitarist Steve Winkle, start your holiday shopping early, and help us celebrate the imagination of our membership. The MCAA art will be displayed in the gallery’s front window during the month of November. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Tight, loose, representative, abstract, realistic, playful, colorful, and innovative; it is all in this exhibit. Thirty MCAA members of varying experience and skill levels will add to the vibrancy of the show that follows no rules or themes; rather, it is art for art’s sake.
Painters in oils include Wanda Bennett, Lynn Williams, Polly Palecek, Elaine Richard, Susan Walker, Karen Falconer-Wimer, Jimmy Humble, Kathleen Gordon-Burke, and Jan Daily.
Deborah Briggs and Judi Berdis are showing photography printed not on paper but using a newer process on a metal surface. Have you heard of painting with paper? Jeanette Carson and Polly Palecek demonstrate this interesting application in their art.
Watercolorists make up the majority of the MCAA membership and include Susan Sweet, Sarah Falk, Cherri Anne Canale, Katie Kight, Bev Rae, Mary Monroe, Susie Walker, and Dora Briley (known for painting holiday windows in Ukiah for 50 years).
Acrylic paintings by Catherine Lair, Jan Bylund, Sharon Fenton, Gina Greco (look for her amazing zebra), and Jim McKell will be exhibited. Katie Gibbs, well known for her metal sculptures, will be offering her latest.
Valerie Peters, Jeni DeVinny, Svetlana Artemoff, and Lacey Frey demonstrate how the medium of pastels can be used in their creative offerings.
Cindy Lingren stands alone in the art she is adding to this show—scratchboard. It is better seen in person than described.
The Mendocino County Art Association (MCAA) is the oldest art organization in the County, established in 1954. Its objective is to offer education and art exhibitions for the benefit of its members and the public at large. Organization president, Jeanie Carson, offers an inclusive approach saying, “I love MCAA! We are a collection of like-minded creative people. We express ourselves using different art mediums and with different skill levels. We learn from each other and happily move forward. Wherever you are in your artistic journey, MCAA is and has been a welcoming place for you.”
