Blackhawks 3, Jets 6 — Three Stars, Key Takeaways ...Middle East

Sport by : (Bleacher Nation) -

The Winnipeg Jets came into this game 7-3-0 and really hadn’t played their best hockey yet. They’re a well coached, excellent veteran team and it showed tonight. Good teams make you pay for mistakes, and Winnipeg did that all night.

Colton Dach took a quick penalty and the Jets converted, taking a 1-0 lead 102 seconds in. The Blackhawks didn’t score on an early power play of their own, but did start generating chances with their speed. Frankly, the Blackhawks dominated the first period for about 15 minutes, but a terrible pinch by Louis Crevier gave up a 2-on-1 and the Jets scored on their second shot in almost 12 minutes of action.

Less than two minutes into the second period, Mark Scheifele scored what can only be described as a bad goal that Spencer Knight undoubtedly wants back. When Gabe Vilardi scored for a second time at 11:19 into the second period, it felt like the better team was simply imposing its will. The Blackhawks actually had a 14-13 Corsi For advantage at 5-on-5 in the second period but the Jets scored the only two goals in the period.

Chasing three goals on the road against a good team is hard. When the Blackhawks announced Jason Dickinson would not return for the third period — leaving them with 10 available forwards — the climb became harder. Especially when Connor Hellebuyck is on his game. When Josh Morrissey rifled a shot off the post that ricocheted off Knight’s leg and into the net, you knew it really just wasn’t the Hawks’ night. But they never quit, and scored twice in a span of 2:01 in the third to make it interesting.

Star 1: André Burakovsky

In a game that wasn’t great overall for the Blackhawks, this highlight reel goal will stand out for the Blackhawks. It got Chicago within two late in the game. Wow!

Star 2: Frank Nazar

Nazar won the game’s opening faceoff against… Jonathan Toews. Toews spent the majority of his time against Nazar’s line in the game. In 4:31 against Toews at 5-on-5 before the end of the second period, Nazar’s line had a 5-1 Corsi For advantage. Individually, Nazar was credited with 5 of the Blackhawks’ 14 shots on goal in the first two periods. When the final horn sounded, Nazar had taken a team-leading 23 of 53 total faceoffs in the game. He won nine of them and skated 21:24 in the game. No other Blackhawks skater took more than nine faceoffs.

Star 3: Ryan Greene

Greene was noticeable all over the ice tonight. He skated 12:39 in the first two periods and won half of his six faceoffs with one shot on net. His work on the second power play unit was solid and he was around the net a lot, which led to him being tied for the team lead with two high danger chances before the end of the second period. Greene finished the night plus-two and won six of nine faceoffs in 19:24.

Key Takeaways

Teuvo Teräväinen was in the right place at the right time when an insane bounce off the boards on a dump-in found him all alone in front of the net for an easy first Blackhawks goal. Hellebuyck had vacated the crease to get the dump-in and the goal was wide open.

— BHF (@BlackhawksFocus) October 31, 2025 The Blackhawks power play was not great. Again. Knight has been terrific this season. He had an off night tonight. With the exception of the crazy bounce off the boards in the first period, Hellebuyck was outstanding. That should be expected; he’s the reigning Vezina and Hart winner for a reason. The Connor-Scheifele-Vilardi line dominated the Blackhawks in the first two periods — before Dickinson was ruled out for the third period. The Blackhawks won 7 of 21 faceoffs as a team in the opening 20 minutes. The Blackhawks won 6 of 16 in the second period (13 of 37 total — 35 percent). The Blackhawks won 10 of 16 in the third period to finish at 43 percent in the game. Toews had one assist and won 14 of 20 faceoffs in the game. Gustav Nyquist needed help to the room eight minutes into the first period for Winnipeg and did not return to the game.
