ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The steadiest rain from Thursday is over, but a Yellow Alert remains up into Friday for some lake effect rain and a gusty wind that’ll be developing. Much of the area saw over 1″ of rain on Thursday, with more in the way of scattered showers continuing Thursday night and into Friday.
Winds haven’t been a huge issue, but will become more noticeable on Friday. Winds will switch out of the northwest, and ramp up to the 40-45 mph gust range. Power outages aren’t likely with winds of this speed, but there is the chance for a few spotty outages from time to time. In addition to the wind, scattered lake enhanced rain will continue off and on. It’ll tend to be more persistent through early afternoon, then begin to taper from west to east. That means the best chance of dry weather for Trick or Treating will be west of Rochester, with the best chance of some rain being east. The entire area will have to deal with a witching wind for Halloween evening.
Our weather will quiet down nicely for the weekend. Saturday will be a little breezy and cool, with some passing rain showers, but it’ll be less windy, and less wet! Sunday looks good for the Bills game in Orchard Park, and for any outdoor plans you may have going on in western New York! We’ll see a mix of clouds and sunshine, and temperatures in the lower half of the 50s.
We’ll keep the dry weather into the first part of Monday before another batch of showers arrives late Monday. Tuesday will be another breezy, but mainly dry day, with some more showers moving back in by the middle of next week.
