In a vibrant celebration of art and heritage, the National Museum in Lattakia hosted a closing event Monday to mark the completion of its renovation project, under the theme “The Sun of History Rises in October.”
The event was organized by the “Your Country, Your Responsibility” Association, in collaboration with the Lattakia Directorate of Antiquities and the “Benasaj” Organization, as part of the “Bridges of Peace” initiative aimed at supporting youth and promoting social cohesion in Syria.
The celebration featured a captivating dance performance by the “Agartha” Dance Theater Troupe, which showcased the richness and diversity of Syrian folklore. Additionally, an art exhibition highlighted the beauty of Syria’s cultural heritage, while a short film documented the stages of the museum’s restoration and the rehabilitation work completed over recent months.
Mohammad Al-Hassan, Director of the Lattakia Directorate of Antiquities, explained that the restoration efforts included refurbishing the museum’s surrounding garden, planting flowers, improving lighting, and repairing benches, all of which enhanced the aesthetic appeal and bolstered the museum’s presence in the local cultural scene.
Engineer Ahmad Shakoush, a member of the “Your Country, Your Responsibility” Association’s Board of Directors, emphasized that the project aimed to revive the architectural and cultural value of the building after years of neglect.
