Mr. Johnny Butler, age 59, of Gordonsville, TN, and a native of the Rock City Community passed away on October 25, 2025 at Lebanon Center for Rehabilitation and Healing in Lebanon, TN, following complications from a stroke in May.
Johnny was born June 15, 1966 in Carthage, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents; JD Butler in 1992 and Ann Gregory Butler in 2024. Johnny was also preceded in death by Brother; Joey Butler in 2011. Johnny worked for 15 years as an operator and truck driver for the Smith County Highway Department. He was an avid outdoorsman and sports fan and passed his love for both to his son and grandsons. Johnny coached J.D.’s youth softball team, the 4-Winds Rockets, to the World Series. He will be remembered as the Best Papa.
Johnny is survived by Wife of nearly 40 years; Tammie Bush Butler. Son; J.D. (Julia Massey) Butler. Grandsons; David Butler and Drake Butler. Siblings; Dianne (Ricky) Harville, Rena Butler, Jeff Butler, Bobo (Connie) Butler. Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Nancy (Johnny) Richardson, Tom Bush, Gerald (Shenia) Bush, James (Sharon) Bush, and Debbie Rich.
Graveside Services and Interment for Mr. Butler are scheduled to be conducted from the Gordonsville Cemetery on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at 11AM with Bro. Donnie Payne and Steve Armistead officiating.
Family and friends will gather at the cemetery just prior to the 11AM graveside.
The family requests memorials be made to Johnny’s grandkids education fund or to the Forks River Fire Department.
