Entertainment Weekly reported that Carvey shared a story about Madonna during the October 13 episode of his podcast, Fly on the Wall, co-hosted by David Spade. Carvey, who starred on Saturday Night Live for seven consecutive years until 1993, said he attempted to give Madonna a compliment during an early '90s SNL afterparty.
"She came over to our table at the party. And I think I said something really stupid because she was so fit. I said, 'The thing I admire about you,' and I shouldn't have said 'admire about you most,' I might have accidentally said that. 'Is how fit you are.' And I can see later how she took offense to it, and she basically kind of said, 'The thing you admire about me is how fit I am?' Like, 'I'm a f---ing artist.' So she said kind of like, 'F--k you' or something like that," said Carvey during his podcast interview, as reported by Entertainment Weekly.
"So I did Chris Farley's thing, which I'd seen him do, because I just was triggered. So I go, 'Madonna, can you hear this? Let me turn it up for you,'" said Carvey to Spade.
"So then she left, about a half hour later, she came back and sat on my lap. Not in a seductive way, but in, like, a puppy-dog, friendly way," said Carvey.
"I made a mistake. I apologize to her if she's listening on this podcast. It was rude," said Carvey while recording the Fly on the Wall episode.
Dana Carvey Apologized to Sharon Stone on His Podcast
“I want to apologize publicly for the security check sketch where I played an Indian man and we’re convincing Sharon, her character, or whatever, to take her clothes off to go through the security thing,” said Carvey to Stone in the podcast episode.
“I know the difference between a misdemeanor and a felony. And I think that we were all committing misdemeanors [back then] because we didn’t think there was something wrong then,” said the actress during the podcast episode. “We didn’t have this sense. That was funny to me, I didn’t care. I was fine being the butt of the joke. Now we’re in such a weird and precious time. People have spent too much time alone. People don’t know how to be funny and intimate and any of these things with each other. Everyone is so afraid and are putting up such barriers around everything that people can’t be normal with each other anymore. It’s lost all sense of reason.”
