Zonovan Knight (Cardinals) was the highest-recommended RB waiver wire pickup this week.
Analysis
You have to be in pretty dire need — specifically in Week 9 — to invest in Zonovan Knight. The Cardinals are on bye this week, and Trey Benson should be back a few weeks afterwards, so this is essentially a short-term rental. But if you do need someone to start in Week 9, Knight gets a matchup with the Cowboys.
While he only saw 47.8% of the snaps (most among Cardinals RBs), Knight led the team (by a mile) with 14 carries, which he took for 57 yards. With that kind of opportunity, and an extremely soft matchup against Dallas, Knight has a very good chance to post an RB2 performance in Week 9. If you have the room to stash him away for a future start (or two), it’s not a bad idea.
Recommendation: Should be stashed in 12-team leagues

Who are the best stashes from the Fantasy Football RB Rankings?
Kyle Monangai and Brashard Smith are the best running back stashes ahead of Week 8.
Kyle Monangai, RB – Bears (7%)
Kyle Monangai is starting to look like more than just a depth piece in the Bears’ backfield rotation. The rookie doubled his season-long fantasy total in Week 7, posting 16.4 half-PPR points on 16 total opportunities while handling a healthy 45% snap share. It’s not quite FLEX-worthy usage yet, but this kind of involvement — especially in non-garbage-time situations — makes him an ideal handcuff with upside. Chicago’s coaching staff clearly trusts Monangai in meaningful snaps. He handled the entire second drive of the game and mixed in throughout competitive stretches, not just late in the blowout.
That’s encouraging for a rookie who profiles as a potential downhill complement in the mold of David Montgomery to D’Andre Swift’s diet Jahmyr Gibbs style holding down the lead role. Roschon Johnson is the team’s RB3 in name only at this point, handling all of two touches seven weeks into the season. Even if Monangai remains a change-of-pace option for now, his expanding role and strong situational usage make him one of the more intriguing rookie RB stashes heading into the second half of the season.
Brashard Smith, RB – Chiefs (6%)
Whether or not Kareem Hunt’s ankle injury is serious enough to keep him out of playing time in the immediate future (he ended up returning to the game shortly after it was rolled up on), there’s a good chance that we start to see some more third-down and two-minute drill snaps out of rookie Brashard Smith.
Though a majority of Smith’s 14 rush attempts came near the end of a 31-0 blowout, it’s worth pointing out that all five of his catches came with Patrick Mahomes still on the field. Those receptions have stretched his streak of 3+ catches to four games and make a fantasy manager’s memory stretch back a few years to the Jerick McKinnon role; one in which the rushing usage was a crapshoot but also launched him to an RB3 finish due to his usage in the passing game.
If Hunt’s usage started to shrink (please), we could find ourselves with the RB2 on a suddenly resurgent Chiefs offense that could once again be the highest-scoring unit in the league. It’s worth keeping Smith at the bottom of your bench to see how this shapes up.
