Donny and Merrill Osmond Reunite for Surprise Performance of '70s Classic for the First Time in Years ...Saudi Arabia

News by : (Parade) -

The brothers recently reunited on stage for their first duet in years, reviving the family band for a brief moment as they performed The Osmonds' 1971 hit "Double Lovin."

The unexpected moment was thankfully captured on video, with Merrill sharing it on his Facebook page for fans who weren't lucky enough to witness it in person.

The brotherly banter was on full display in the video, as they debated which song to perform together. Merrill suggested a duet on one of Donny's singles, who jokingly replied, "That’s my song, you had nothing to do with that song!” as the crowd erupted in laughter.

As Merrill attempted to ask the audience what they wanted to hear, his brother shut it down, asking him to choose. As he wrapped his arm around Merrill, they went through several of The Osmonds' options before landing on "Double Lovin'," a song Merrill noted he hadn't heard in a while.

With approval from the audience, the music kicked in, and the Osmond brothers were off, proving they still got it after all this time.

Another echoed, "What I wouldn't give to be in that audience," as someone else revealed that they "hated it when everyone split apart," adding, "Your voices blended and complimented each other so well."

"Great... I don't know how you remember lyrics to all the songs you have done! Looks like it was a fun night," someone else chimed in, as another added, "You can see the love Donny has for Merrill he absolutely adores his brother so lovely to see."

Another video shared to Merrill's page showed the duo joking around and reminiscing backstage. Donny had his arms wrapped around his brother, as Merrill wrote in the caption, "I went to see my brother Donny’s show last night, and sitting there watching him perform brought back so many memories of where it all began. I couldn’t help but think about our parents — how they set the tone, created the foundation, and showed us what true love really means. They taught us unity, oneness, and what it means to live a Christlike life. Their influence is in everything we do, even after all these years.”

The last known joint performance between Donny and Merrill was at the latter's final U.S. concert in April 2022 at the Westgate Theatre in Las Vegas.

The Osmonds were an American family music group, responsible for hits like "Crazy Horse" and "Goin' Home," who reached the height of their career in the mid-70s. In addition to Donny and Merrill, who played bass guitar since its inception in 1958, the group also consisted of siblings Marie, Wayne, Jimmy, Jay, and Alan.
