Chloe Teger, a junior at Villa Park High School in Villa Park, California, has announced her intention to swim and study at North Carolina State University beginning in the 2027-28 school year. She wrote to SwimSwam:
“I’m super excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at NC State University!! I would like to give huge thanks to my family, friends, and OC Gold family, especially Coach Jerry, for their endless support and guidance to get me to where I am today. I am so grateful for Coach Braden, Coach Dan, and the rest of the amazing coaching staff at NC State for giving me this incredible opportunity. I can’t wait to be apart of this team! GO PACK ”
Teger swims year-round with Orange County Gold and specializes in distance freestyle. We considered her an “Honorable Mention” recruit on our Way Too Early list of top girls’ swimmers from the high school class of 2027.
Teger hit the ground running in the 2024-25 short course season, notching all new PBs at the Kevin Perry Invitational in November. She went 1:53.21 in the 200 free, 4:51.70 in the 500 free (5th place), 9:50.14 in the 1000 free (3rd place), 16:24.70 in the 1650 free (2nd place), 2:12.86 in the 200 back, and 4:36.29 in the 400 IM.
At Winter Juniors West, she lowered her 500 time to 4:51.23 and finished 17th. She also placed 5th in the mile (16:29.20). Teger wrapped up SCY season at CIF-Southern Section Division 1 Championships, improving her 500 free time to 4:50.03 with a 3rd-place finish in the final.
Teger made a big splash at U.S. Nationals, dropping 15.5 seconds in the 800 free (8:45.81) and 10 in the 1500 free (16:35.45) to placed 18th and 13th in the respective events. She picked up a new 200 free PB (2:07.43) at L.A. Invite, before wrapping up the long-course season at Summer Juniors. There, she placed 3rd in the 1500 free with a PB of 16:33.66, 7th in the 800 free (8:48.37), and 13th in the 400 free (PB of 4:19.23 in prelims).
Teger will join #7 Emily Wolf, #9 Carly Afanasewicz, and “BOTR” Sutton Forbis in the Wolfpack’s class of 2031. Her best 1650 free time would have scored in the top 16 at 2025 ACC Championships, along with 5th-place Chase Travis (15:59.15) and 7th-place Emma Hastings (16:16.60). It took 4:46.77 to get a second swim in the 500 free.
