ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The weekend is feeling more like the middle of September. Temperatures will be running at least 15 degrees above normal, but the unseasonably warm conditions will last only one more day.
A strengthening low-pressure system will move across the central Great Lakes with a cold front arriving Sunday evening. This will bring an abrupt end to the pleasant weather by Sunday night into Monday.
Tonight, look for partly cloudy skies and it will be very mild for this time of the year. The low will be in the upper 50s (typically the temperature falls in the low 40s). Sunday starts with partial sunshine and then clouds increase later in the afternoon. It will turn windy during the day with gusts possibly near 35 miles per hour. The high temperature is expected to be at least in the middle 70s with the record high at 81 (1953) degrees. Then steady rain arrives Sunday evening with the potential for rainfall to exceed a half inch. This rainfall is good news for the drought. More showers are likely for Monday, and it will be windy and much cooler. Monday the temperature will stay in the mid-50s.
