PHOENIX — With James Conner and Trey Benson still on the shelf with injuries, the Arizona Cardinals announced they are elevating D’Ernest Johnson from the practice squad to the active roster for Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers.
Johnson is a seventh-year pro out of USF and last played for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2024. He was signed to the Cardinals practice squad Sept. 29.
He played in 14 games, registering 32 carries for 143 yards and had a 22-yard run for his longest of the season.

He played for four seasons with the Cleveland Browns before spending the last two with the Jaguars.
His best season was in 2021 when he ran the ball 100 times for 534 yards and three touchdowns.
Johnson also has experience returning with 33 career kickoff returns and in special teams coverage with 16 career tackles.
Third-string running back Emari Demercado will be out for Sunday also, leaving Johnson, Michael Carter and Bam Knight as the primary running back options for the Cardinals.
