Georgia was trying to win a big football game on Saturday afternoon against Ole Miss, and its athletic department was trying to do it all in style.
Well, the former could still very well happen, as 9th-ranked Georgia had its home crowd behind it against 5th-ranked Ole Miss in a huge SEC showdown in Athens. ESPN’s College GameDay was on hand for the occasion, and there were those style points that Georgia was trying to win with that wonderful home crowd at Sanford Stadium.
Scratch the style points, as it turned out. In a bizarre twist and miscalculation, Georgia botched its attempt to turn Sanford Stadium into a striped stadium. Instead of handing out black shirts for 1 side of the stadium’s fans, the university handed out white shirts. Call it what you want, but it was the first bad call by Georgia, long before the actual game against the Rebels even started.
