Georgia Tech Dual Meet Tournament

All of the opponents for today’s sessions of the Georgia Tech Dual Meet Tournament are set.

NC State beat Florida in the Wave Two Championship by 131 points last night, and they will be in the Championship with the winner of the Wave One championship meet: Georgia. As the losing team, Florida State will race in the 3rd place tournament against Auburn.

The Wolfpack won every event on the women’s side of the meet, and won all but three events for the men: the 200 butterfly, 200 breaststroke, and 200 IM.

In the consolation meet, Georgia Tech handily defeated the U.S. Military Academy, winning the meet by 124 points. Georgia Tech will race for 5th against Minnesota, while the Academy will swim a dual with George Washington for 7th.

Georgia Tech swept the women’s relays, while Army claimed both men’s relay victories. The individual events were similarly divided, with Tech winning eight of the 14 races and Army taking six.

Here is the schedule for today:

Saturday, October 18th 8:30 am- 5th/6th place (Georgia Tech vs Minnesota), 7th/8th place meets (Army vs George Washington) 11:30 am- 3rd/4th place meet (Florida State vs Auburn) 2:30 pm- Championship Meet (NC State vs Georgia)

As a refresher, scoring is combined for genders. Each dual has a total of 790 points (meaning the first team to reach 396 wins). Scoring is as follows:

For diving/relays, 1st place is 22, 2nd place is 8, 3rd place is 4, and 4th place is 0. For Individual Swimming events, 1st place is 16, 2nd place is 6, 3rd place is 5, 4th place is 4, 5th place is 3, 6th place is 2, 7th place is 1, and 8th place is 0.
