She took 3rd in Carmel in a time of 2:05.07, but had a stunning final 50 this week to blast past Brittany Castelluzzo for the silver medal.

Walsh also had the fastest final 50 in the field, just ahead of Smith’s 31.28 and more than two seconds faster than anyone else.
Walshe has only recently made the foray into the 200 fly. She set the long course Irish record this summer, and finished in 8th at the world Championships after initially qualifying for the final in 4th. So far this year, she has set records in the 200 fly, 200 free, 200 IM and 400 IM.

She dipped under 2:20 for the first time in the process, finishing in 4th place last night.
She owns the Irish record in all three breaststroke distances in both long course and short course. The 200 has been her weakest of the three distances, but she seems to be coming into her own at this distance this year. She has won major medals in both the 50 (short course, 2021 Worlds) and the 100 (2024 Olympics) , but not in the 200 so far.
She placed 5th at the world championships in the 200 this summer, her joint-highest finish of the meet and a big improvement upon her 15th-place finish in Paris last summer.

After nearing her Irish Records in the 50 and 100 breast last week, McSharry looks in good stead to keep the record books ticking over this weekend.
