If Alvin Kamara is on your NFL Trade Deadline wish list, I hope you’re seated for the news I’m about to present.
Before D’Andre Swift’s breakout game against the Commanders on Monday Night Football, running back was arguably the top position that Bears fans wanted their front office to address ahead of the NFL Trade Deadline. And while there are some intriguing potential targets Chicago could conceivably kick the tires on, no one had a resumé like Alvin Kamara. With the Saints in town to face the Bears, I know some fans are going to try to connect the dots.
Unfortunately, I am here to throw cold water on those dreams:
Alvin Kamara said today that if they trade him he’s going to just go drink “pina coladas” somewhere
— Nick Underhill (@nick_underhill) October 16, 2025And just like that, you can cross Alvin Kamara off your Chicago Bears NFL Trade Deadline wish list. I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I’d rather you hear it from me than someone else.
Alvin Kamara would have been a nice fit for these Bears. A versatile player who is capable of making a house call after taking a handoff in the backfield and catching passes as a receiving back, it would have been easy to dream of what Bears Head Coach Ben Johnson could have cooked up in his playbook. For what it’s worth, he can still cook those things up for the players currently on his team. But there isn’t a Kamara in that bunch. Then again, players like Alvin Kamara don’t grow on trees.
Alvin Kamara will do his best to be a life-long Saint
In an era where player movement seemingly never stops, I admire Alvin Kamara’s desire to be a life-long member of the New Orleans Saints. They just don’t make players like they used to, so I’m digging it that Kamara is willing to stand his ground and stick with the team that drafted him. Maybe his feelings will change later. Perhaps the idea of chasing a ring will push him off his position. But if they don’t, then kudos to Kamara.
EPISODE IV OF THE BLEACHER NATION BEARS PODCAST IS HERE!
Alvin Kamara is a five-time Pro Bowler who has earned second-team All-Pro recognition twice in his career. An all-purpose back, touchdown machine, and fantasy football favorite, Kamara has eclipsed 1,100 scrimmage yards in each of his eight seasons as a pro. He even has four seasons with 1,450 or more yards from scrimmage. The guy is a playmaker. And even though his 2025 season is off to a slow start, I couldn’t bring myself to bet against a player with his history of production — especially if he landed on a team with an improving offensive line that just sparked D’Andre Swift’s best game since joining the Bears.

I’m not sure if Bears General Manager Ryan Poles will swing a deal for a running back ahead of the 2025 NFL Trade Deadline. However, Poles has been active this time of year in the past. Hence, I would not put it past him to try and make something happen via trade if his team looks like it could use the help. Back in September, we discussed a few potential running back options the team could target in a possible trade. Alvin Kamara was on that initial list, but I think we can safely cross his name off the list.
