Police arrested a man accused of fatally shooting a 36-year-old man in Long Beach, officials announced Thursday, Oct. 16.

Jose Garcia-Linares, 25, was arrested on suspicion of murder about a mile from the scene of the shooting on Oct. 12, according to the Long Beach Police Department. He is being held without bail.

Officers responded just before 1:30 a.m. to the 200 block of Falcon Avenue, where they found Thomas Mello with a gunshot wound to his upper body. He was taken to a hospital, where he died.
