The Blackhawks produced a docuseries that will play on Youtube this season titled “Always an Original” that will celebrate the history of the franchise during their Centennial season. I have written four books now, and the first two focused on the history of the Blackhawks. I love the history of the franchise, so this series immediately had my attention.
The first episode dropped on Thursday. I had the privilege of watching it before it went public, and it’s outstanding.
From Stan Mikita‘s curved stick blade to the original “hat trick,” this episode touches on a lot of the old history of the Blackhawks. There’s great old footage from the early days of the Chicago Stadium as well. It’s a great watch!
Episode 1, titled “The Originals,” focuses on the start of the franchise. The episode “dives into the untold and true history of the Blackhawks — revealing how the team not only shaped Chicago sports but also set the standard as originators in the league. Hosted by renowned “Chicago urban historian” Sherman “Dilla” Thomas, this episode proves that being an Original is more than a title, it’s a way of life.
