For two consecutive weeks, the Denver Broncos dominant pass rush has helped two of their top players take home the honor of AFC Defensive Player of the Week.

Nik Bonitto earned the honor last week after the Broncos dismantled the Philadelphia Eagles. Jonathon Cooper is taking home the honor this week after his performance against Justin Fields and the New York Jets.

This is the first time in franchise history, according to Broncos PR guru Tyler Gorse, that two Broncos have been named AFC Defensive Player of the Week in back-to-back weeks.

Cooper had two sacks in the Broncos’ defense’s dominant onslaught against the Jets’ offense.

The Broncos had nine sacks on Sunday, and Cooper sealed the game with a big-time sack on fourth down, timing the snap perfectly en route to the quarterback.

One thing that stands out with Cooper and Bonitto is how fast they are to time the snap, with both pass rushers being top ten in get-off times.

This Sunday, the Broncos will face off against Jaxon Dart and the newly energized New York Giants, where Cooper and Bonitto will look to douse the flames the Giants’ offense has created since he took over under center.

Denver’s defense, led by Cooper and Bonitto, is already at 30 total team sacks through just six games after this unit had a franchise record and league-leading 63 sacks in total in 2024.

At this pace, the Broncos’ dynamic pass rush duo could help them break the franchise record again and challenge the all-time NFL record of 72 set by the 1984 Chicago Bears.
