Six countries confirmed their respective places at the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Tuesday as some qualifying phases ended and others entered their final stages.
This saw the first European country seal passage to the tournament, which will be hosted in Canada, Mexico and the United States in June and July next year.
Before Tuesday, 19 countries (excluding the co-hosts) had already made sure of their involvement in what will be the biggest tournament in World Cup history, with 48 teams in total set to participate.
Reigning champions Argentina, who were successful at Qatar 2022, were the fourth team to secure qualification in March 2025. Record five-time winners, Brazil, followed suit in June.
As a result of the tournament’s expansion, a host of countries will be competing for the first time at a men’s World Cup.
Ahead of the World Cup draw in December, 20 teams are still to be confirmed, and some won’t be known until as late as March 2026 when the inter-confederation play-offs take place. But for now, the full list of confirmed qualifiers is below, with debutants highlighted (*).
