The first substantial storm of the fall brought widespread downpours and gusty winds across San Diego County Tuesday.
Bands of wet clouds delivered up to around four-fifths of an inch of precipitation along the coastline and more than an inch in the mountains, according to the National Weather Service.
Some of the two-day rainfall totals as of 5 p.m. were 1.39 inches at Palomar Observatory; 1.13 on Birch Hill; 1.06 at Rainbow Camp; 0.64 at Henshaw Dam; 0.63 in San Onofre; 0.61 in Skyline Ranch; 0.6 on Mount Woodson; 0.54 in Valley Center; and 0.52 in Bonsall and Couser Canyon.
Other precipitation tallies over the period hit 0.47 of an inch in Oceanside; 0.46 in Vista; 0.45 in Kearny Mesa and Point Loma; 0.44 in Miramar and National City; 0.43 in Carlsbad; 0.42 in Mission Valley; 0.41 in Fallbrook; 0.4 at Lake Wohlford; 0.39 at San Diego International Airport; 0.38 at Naval Air Station North Island and in Santee; 0.37 in Chula Vista and Poway; 0.34 in La Mesa; 0.32 in Escondido; and 0.3 in Rancho Bernardo and San Marcos.
The 48-hour moisture accumulations also included 0.29 of an inch in Pine Hills and Ramona; 0.28 in Santa Ysabel; 0.25 in Granite Hills; 0.24 in Warner Springs; 0.2 in Barona; 0.21 in Harbison Canyon; 0.19 in Descanso and Flinn Springs; 0.18 on Otay Mountain; 0.14 in Encinitas; 0.09 at Brown Field Municipal Airport; and 0.01 in Kearny Mesa.
No measurable rainfall was reported in San Diego-area desert communities.
Meanwhile, storm-generated winds reached 47 mph on Mount Laguna, 40 mph in Julian, 37 mph in Ocotillo Wells, 36 mph in Ramona, 35 mph in the city of San Diego, 33 mph in Alpine and 30 mph in El Cajon, the NWS reported.
Temperatures are expected to begin climbing Wednesday, with a warming trend continuing into the weekend, meteorologists said.
High temperatures Wednesday are forecast to reach 69 along the coast, 66 to 70 in the western valleys, 60 to 65 near the foothills, 54 to 62 in the mountains and 75 to 79 in the deserts.
