India cricket team secured a 7-wicket win against West Indies in the IND vs WI 2nd Test to complete a 2-0 whitewash against the visitors. The contest, which marked the first Test against West Indies at home to enter the fifth day since 2011, saw Roston Chase and co. put up a spirited fightback, leaving the Men in Blue chewing their nails for a couple of days. The series win against West Indies marks Shubman Gill’s first as captain.

India thump WI by 7 wickets to win 2nd Test

It took just an hour for India to chase down 58 runs on Day 5 of the IND vs WI 2nd Test. Although the team lost a couple of wickets, KL Rahul (58*) stayed unbeaten till the end to take the team across the line. The Indian opener’s fine form in 2025 continued as he brought up yet another half-century. Sai Sudharsan, who made 87 runs in the 1st innings, was the first batter to depart on Day 5 as he was dismissed for 37 runs. The next to depart was captain Gill, whose ultra-aggressive approach led to his unfortunate dismissal.

It was all going well for India until Day 2, with three Indian batters scoring centuries. Jaiswal (175), Gill (129*) and handy knocks from Sai, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Dhruv Jurel powered India to 518/5. Having thought India had enough runs on the board, Gill decided to declare. The bowlers did a splendid job in bundling out WI for 248 runs in the 1st innings, with Kuldeep Yadav standing out with his fifth five-wicket haul in Tests.

And that’s where the trouble began for India. Gill decided to enforce a follow-on on the West Indies, thereby asking them to bat again. Well, the decision didn’t exactly go India’s way as the visitors batted for nearly two days and scored 390 runs before India could manage to bowl them out. John Campbell, who became the first West Indies opener to score a century against India in 19 years, along with Shai Hope (103) frustrated the hosts. A fighting fifty from Justin Greaves and a late cameo from Jayden Seales added salt to India’s wounds before they could finally wrap up the innings.

While there are many positives for India from this game, it is more so for the West Indies who fought back hard after being humbled in Ahmedabad.
