HOLLEY, N.Y. — One person was taken to the hospital Monday evening as firefighters battled a house fire in Holley.
The four occupants of the home at 21 Orchard St. were leaving the building when firefighters arrived at around 5:50 p.m., according to Fire Chief Rick Cary with the Murray Joint Fire District. One was transported, and the others were evaluated at the scene. No firefighters were injured.
Cary said the damage to the building was significant, mostly to the back part of the living area, and the house is not inhabitable, though he couldn’t say definitely whether it was a total loss.
The blaze was a two-alarm fire due to a lack of manpower, the chief said, in part due to the time of day and in part due to a statewide lack of volunteers.
