However, it has already been revealed which classic United shirt has inspired their latest kit.

The Premier League giants will once again be kitted out by Adidas next season.

It follows a ten-year extension to their deal worth at least £900million, which was agreed in 2023.

Meanwhile, front-of-shirt sponsor Snapdragon will continue to appear on the jersey.

Their logo will be a feature of United’s kits until at least the end of the 2028/29 campaign.

What kits are Man United paying homage to?

The latest Red Devils strip will reportedly be inspired by their shirts from the late 1970s.

According to Footy Headlines, next season’s home shirt will be in the club’s traditional red with a white trim.

Inspired by their kits of the late 1970s, it will also feature a striped collar and cuffs on the sleeves.

United wore a kit manufactured by British firm Admiral between 1975 and 1980 following their return to the top-flight.

During that period, the club won the FA Cup as well as reaching two more finals.

They also achieved second and third place finishes in the First Division after establishing themselves back at the top of English football.

Their team at the time featured a number of club legends, including Lou Macari and Gordon McQueen.

Meanwhile, Steve Coppell, Joe Jordan and Mickey Thomas’ Old Trafford careers all spanned the same period.

United’s Adidas kit deal

Adidas have been United’s kit supplier for a decade after taking over from Nike ahead of the 2015/16 season.

They had previously manufactured the club’s strips between 1980 and 1992.

The initial ten-year agreement struck in 2014 was worth £750m.

However, their extension in 2023 is understood to be the largest in Premier League history.

The deal is worth a minimum of £900m, with revenue and performance-based clauses.

Amongst them is a reduction in the annual payments by 30 per cent if the club miss out on Champions League qualification for two seasons in a row.

That is a fate which United faced in the summer, having missed out on Europe altogether following their Europa League final defeat.
