ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Cold air dipping into the region will bring us cold mornings today and tomorrow with chances for frost tomorrow. There is a frost advisory in effect from 11pm to 9am tomorrow for the entire region, so bring in any sensitive outdoor plants – this includes vine plants like beans, grapes, squash and melon, and nightshades such as tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, and potatoes. The daytime temperatures will be refreshingly cool, with highs in the mid to upper 50s today and mid 60s tomorrow. Lots of sunshine both days, with a northeast wind 10 MPH today and light winds tomorrow. Overall great conditions for all your favorite outdoor fall activities, just remember to wear a sweater!
We’re tracking a rather complicated setup for this weekend. A small upper level low will move in over far Western New York, which could kick up some rain there as well as in the Genesee Valley late on Saturday. This may last into Sunday, and then, a Nor’easter moving up the coast could bring more rain into the area later on Sunday, this time focused more east of Rochester and near the Finger Lakes.
Due to the delicate nature of this setup, the precise development of these systems and the difference of a few dozen miles of where they move could mean the difference between decent to heavy rain, and light to no rain for the weekend, as well as the exact timing and coverage. Right now, Sunday has the better chance for rain between the two, and as stated above the timing is looking like Saturday evening/overnight into Sunday morning, plus Sunday evening/overnight. We’re going to continue to track these two systems, so make sure to check back in for updates. Temperature-wise, we’ll be in the mid 60s this weekend.
