Andy Reid has broken his silence on the last-minute play that cost Kansas City in Week 5, and the perceived lack of effort from one of his defensive stars.
With the Chiefs holding a late 28-24 lead against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday night, Trevor Lawrence took a snap from the one-yard line with 23 seconds to play.

It was a comical moment, and one that ultimately won Jacksonville the game.
Lawrence was quickly praised for his incredible effort, not only to get back to his feet on a botched play, but to then cross the goal line.
Chiefs star Chris Jones, though, was the villain of the piece.
The six-time NFL Pro Bowler appeared little more than a spectator as Lawrence battled into the end zone, and has been blasted by fans for a lack of effort.
Jones didn’t attempt to move towards the Jaguars QB, nor did he try to cut off the running lane.
For Coach Reid, that simply isn’t good enough.

“You can’t think that the guy is down. You can’t think that,” Big Red told reporters of Jones Wednesday.
“You gotta just play the play, he knows. He’s been around this thing a long time.
“That’s really what it came down to.”

“It was a fluke play for him to be able to break that many tackles.
“But yeah, I put it on us as a defense. We’ve got to finish. We’ve got to bring him down on that.”
Chris Jones takes drastic action amid vicious backlash
In the days that have followed Kansas City’s loss to Jacksonville, Jones has found himself at the centre of the storm.

It seems the nine-year veteran has already seen enough of the backlash, because he has now deleted his social media accounts.
A search for his Instagram profile on Wednesday returned the error message: “User not found”.
Reid was asked if he had a message for Jones, or any of his other players who face online criticism, if they decide to come off the internet.

Jones is yet to address the criticism he has faced online.
The 2-3 Chiefs next face a tough game against the 4-1 Detroit Lions on Sunday night, and know any other lapses of concentration will surely prove costly once again.
