Ryan is a wide-ranging freestyler who excels across the 50–500 distances.

Her focus meet of the 2024–25 high school season was the National Catholic High School Championships, held in February. There, she walked away with individual titles in the 50 and 100 free, logging best times of 23.96 and 51.06, with her 50 marking her first-ever sub-24 result. She also helped Maryvale’s 400 free relay strike gold with a 51.30 leadoff split and took on fly duties on the third-place 200 medley relay, where she split 25.09.

Outside of high school competition, Ryan turned her attention to the Maryland Senior Championships in March, where all of her current bests were notched. She won the 500 free title in 4:54.59 after clocking 4:55.03 in prelims to shatter her previous best of 4:57.49, which was recorded in December when she broke five minutes for the first time. She went on to grab silver medals in the 100 (50.92) and 200 (1:49.75) frees, clipping her 100 PB by 0.14 and obliterating her 200 standard by 1.61. She also took third in the 50 free (23.64) after breaking 24 for the third time in prelims, when she lowered her former best of 23.81.

Beyond her primary events, she tackled the 1000 free, an event not contested at championship-level collegiate meets but often swum at duals. She stopped the clock second in 10:09.28, a 12-second personal best.

Ryan was once again pivotal on relays, notching a 23.25 split on the winning 200 free relay, a 50.92 on the victorious 400 free relay, a 1:50.89 on the winning 800 free relay, and a 25.23 fly leg on the seventh-place 200 medley relay.

Outside the short-course pool, Ryan is a Futures qualifier, having competed this past July at the Greensboro meet. In long course meters, she placed ninth in the 800 free (9:07.29) with a best time, 16th in the 400 free (4:27.81), 20th in the 200 free (2:06.10), 22nd in the 100 free (58.54), and 65th in the 50 free (27.70).

South Carolina, guided by head coach Jeff Poppell, delivered a strong showing at the 2025 SEC Championships, finishing fifth in a competitive 13-team field. The Gamecocks carried that momentum into the NCAA Championships, where they placed 24th overall with 28 team points. Senior Greta Pelzek led the way with 11 points from an eighth-place finish in the 200 fly, while junior Amy Riordan added two points with a 15th-place result in the 200 back. Junior diver Sophie Verzyl accounted for the final 15 points on the boards, earning ninth in the 1-meter and 11th in the 3-meter events.

At the conference meet, where ‘A’, ‘B’, and ‘C’ finals are offered, it took times of 22.40, 48.82, 1:46.68, and 4:44.88 to score in her main events. According to the team’s 2024–25 depth chart, she would have ranked ninth in the 200 free, 11th in the 50 free, and 12th in both the 100 and 500 free, and she still has two full seasons to improve before arriving in Columbia.

Ryan joins Paige Stephanoff, Maryellen Lewis, Emmie Lewis, Ella Cooper, and Libby Helmer in committing to South Carolina’s Class of 2031.
