With only weeks to go until the NBA tips off the 2025-26 season, LeBron James has teased something major.
The Los Angeles Lakers superstar uploaded a cryptic 10-second-long video to social media on Monday afternoon. Two chairs can be seen placed across from one another on a basketball court with a table in between. James proceeds to walk into the frame and sit across from another individual before a message that reads “The Second Decision Coming Soon” appears on the screen. He also shared the video with the caption: “The decision of all decisions. October 7th. 12pm EST.”

Of course, seconds after LeBron James posted the video, fans started to lose their minds. Many were quick to speculate that the NBA’s all-time leading scorer will officially announce his retirement. Considering he turns 41 years old in December, every season continues to feel like it could be the last for one of the league’s most legendary talents.
Many have also believed that James would opt for a retirement tour rather than announce the decision on short notice. Not only would this give the NBA a chance to properly honor his accomplishments, but it would give fans a heads-up that this season would be their last chance to see him in action.

This also isn’t the first time he has jokingly and strategically put fans on the edge of their seat.
Earlier this year, James teamed up with Amazon to announce Prime Day. How did he go about it? Well, he first released a teaser video that showed him fielding a question that asked, “Are the retirement rumors true?” Then, 24 hours later, James shared his new ad for the company that showed him trying out a bunch of new hobbies.
Now, can you guess what tomorrow is? That’s right, Amazon is holding “Prime Big Deal Days” from Oct. 7-8. I don’t know about you, but that sure doesn’t feel like a coincidence to me! I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

The Lakers superstar threw the internet into a tizzy, only to follow up less than 24 hours later with an ad. Much like he did during Amazon’s Prime Days earlier this year, James teased a retirement announcement before sharing word of a new deal with Hennessy. Silly us! We all know James is playing until he’s 70!
