A ‘heat hazard’ may have been declared at the Singapore Grand Prix last weekend – but one Mercedes mechanic remained ice-cool.
Mercedes – and driver George Russell – won their second race of the 2025 season as they took full advantage of their pole position.
And footage has shown that one Mercedes employee wasn’t even breaking a sweat in the pit lane.
What was the Mercedes mechanic watching?
In a video that has gone viral, cars could be heard whizzing around the track with the camera locked onto one mechanic.
As he waited in the lane for Russell and his teammate Kimi Antonelli, he could be seen watching something on his phone.
The camera then zoomed into what was distracting him from the race, which turned out to be Sunday’s Championship clash between Ipswich and Norwich.
It was the Tractor Boys who emerged victorious, as they beat the Canaries 3-1 for their first East Anglian Derby win in 16 years.
While the mechanic ended up watching a historic fixture, those filming him were left less than impressed.
Two women could be heard saying that he was ‘terrible’ for having his eyes fixated on anything else bar the Singapore GP.
Though fans on social media were loving it, as one X user said: “It’s funny because we’re all at work on Fridays watching the practices.”
Another commented: “Lol hopefully he had a bet on the game.”
A third added: “Tbf the race wasn’t very exciting.”
