ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Six adults and four children are without a home after a fire broke out at an apartment building on Lake Avenue near Emerson Street on Thursday.
The fire took just under half an hour to control and crews had to help a person escape from the third floor using the fire escape. Rochester firefighters arrived at the scene of the four-story multi-family apartment building around 12:30 a.m.
Crews entered the building to search the apartments while working to put out the flames with hoses. Crews eventually found the fire on the second floor. The Red Cross is helping those displaced by the fire.
The Rochester Fire Department says no one was injured and the cause remains under investigation. It was a busy morning for RFD, with crews also battling a vacant house fire on Clifton Street about three and a half hours later.
