Jaxson Dart (Giants) was the highest recommended QB waiver wire pickup this week.
Analysis
A quick look at Jaxson Dart’s passing number in his rookie debut would be rather discouraging: 13-of-20 for 111 yards and one TD. But he scored 19.84 fantasy points. How? By rushing for 54 yards and a touchdown, with 31 and the score coming on six designed runs. He looked extremely dynamic as a runner, and it was clear Brian Daboll and Co. have legitimate intent to weaponize his mobility in this offense. Dart was good as a rusher in his legendary preseason (and great as a passer), so this should not come as a surprise, but it’s extremely encouraging for fantasy purposes moving forward.
Losing Malik Nabers in the game was a major blow to Dart’s potential upside, but with this kind of rushing ceiling, he’s still likely to live near fringe QB1 range for the rest of the year. If you’re looking to stream or in trouble at quarterback, give Dart a look against the Saints next week.
Recommendation: Should be added or streamed in 12-team leagues

Who are the best sleeper options in the Week 5 Fantasy Football QB Rankings?
Here are two of the best options to pick up on waiver wires, depending on your league size.
Sam Darnold (Seahawks) vs. Buccaneers
Darnold will head into Week 5 with added rest as the Seahawks played on Thursday Night Football in Week 4. He threw for 242 yards and one touchdown in the victory, while also rushing for 24 yards on his lone carry. While he only attempted 26 passes, he completed 69.2% of them. He has now completed at least 66.7% of his passes in all four games this season. Making that even more impressive is his average target depth of 8.7 yards.
In addition to his extra time off heading into Week 5, Darnold will face a Buccaneers team that ranks 22nd in aFPA to quarterbacks. That has contributed to them allowing 24.3 points per game for the season. Throw in the additional benefit of this being a home game for Darnold and he could provide value for those in need of a quarterback.
Bryce Young (Panthers) vs. Dolphins
Bryce Young produced another muted stat line in Week 4, throwing for 150 yards and one touchdown against the Patriots. The Panthers were down big in the game, so he was pulled late for Andy Dalton. It marked Young’s third game of the season with fewer than 160 passing yards. The Panthers have taken a conservative approach with their young quarterback, leaving him with an average target depth of 7.2 yards.
As underwhelming as Young’s stats have been, it’s difficult to resist a matchup against the Dolphins. Their defense, which has allowed an average of 29.5 points per game, ranks 29th in aFPA to quarterbacks. Opposing quarterbacks have completed 77.6% of their pass attempts against them, which is the highest mark in the league. The Panthers’ conservative offense still probably limits Young’s appeal in 12-team leagues, but he’s a viable streaming option in deeper formats.
