Distance freestyle and backstroke specialist Ellie Walsh has verbally committed to stay in-state and swim for Seton Hall University in New Jersey beginning in the fall of 2026. From Medford, Walsh currently attends Shawnee High School and trains with the Jersey Wahoos.

Walsh set new personal bests in her backstroke events this past February. At the Speedo Southern Premier (SCY), she recorded a time of 2:05.53 in the 200 back, placing 26th. She also placed 19th in the 500 free (5:10.77) and 14th in the 1650 free (17:55.63).
Earlier in the month, at the MA MA JW Super Bowl Splash ABBC Meet (SCY), Walsh set a personal best in the 100 back (59.60), finishing 4th. She also made finals in three other events, placing 5th in the 200 IM (2:13.88), 6th in the 200 back (2:06.64), and 11th in the 100 free (54.29).
Walsh posted her fastest 1000 free time at the 2025 NJ SJAC Distance Challenge (SCY) in January, securing 3rd with a time of 10:14.44. She also competed in the 1650 free (17:55.01), finishing 11th.
In December 2024, Walsh captured her fastest 500 free (5:05.82) and 1650 free (17:48.70) at the 2024 AM PITT 62nd Annual Christmas Meet (SCY), earning 2nd and 7th place finishes, respectively. She also placed 3rd in the 1000 free (10:34.94), 6th in the 200 free (1:56.58), 13th in both the 100 free (55.01) and 50 free (25.34), and 16th in the 200 back (2:14.01).
Walsh competed in long course events this past July at the 2025 Middle Atlantic Swimming LC Senior Champs, achieving personal bests in the 100 free (1:02.26), 800 free (9:34.49), and 100 back (1:09.02).

Walsh has the potential to significantly strengthen Seton Hall’s backstroke group. Her 200 back time would have been the fastest on the team last season, while her 100 back time would have ranked 2nd.
