ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Our spectacular stretch of early fall weather continues this week, with more sunshine and dry weather. Temperatures will begin to drop off a little bit over the next few days, with highs in the lower 70s on Tuesday, and lower half of the 60s on Wednesday, before beginning to slowly climb again for the 2nd half of the work week. A sprawling area of high pressure remains planted overhead, which will keep us dry. But some cooler, Canadian air will nudge in from the northeast, giving us a brief taste of fall-like temperatures for a few days.
That high slides back to the east, and that’ll help our temperatures climb back through the 70s, and even in the lower 80s for the weekend. This September will go down in the books as the 2nd driest September on record in Rochester, and it doesn’t look like that pattern is going to change much in the near future.
We will likely see a few showers toward the middle of next week, but at that point, that is the only rain we have in the forecast for the next week to week and a half.
Meanwhile, the Atlantic hurricane season is heating up, with two named storms – Humberto and Imelda east of Florida and west of Bermuda. The track of Imelda has changed quite a bit over the last few days, keeping it off the coast of the US, with the biggest impacts avoided for the Carolinas. Still, it’ll be a wet for days early this week.
