Another Training Camp Move, Must Read on Coby White, Walker Kessler? And Other Bulls Bullets ...Middle East

If Team USA needs any help at the Ryder Cup (and they do), tapping in Michael Jordan may not be a bad call! Who’s more clutch!?

In case you missed it, the GOAT was spotted yet again at one of golf’s biggest events …

twitter.com/nypostsports/status/1971907534350168089 Shortly after waiving Wooga Poplar, the Chicago Bulls also moved on from former Mizzou guard Caleb Grill, according to the NBA’s transaction report. The decision comes with training camp only a matter of days away. The expectation was that the front office would eventually move on from both, as they were signed to Exhibit 10 deals. However, the timing of each decision does come as a slight surprise. We typically see a few players on Exhibit 10 deals join the team for training camp. Not only does this give the coaching staff a few extra bodies for on-court work, but it also allows the front office to evaluate these players more closely. That’s why I’ll continue to have my eye on the transaction log moving forward. I wouldn’t be surprised if a couple of new faces were signed to training camp deals in the coming days. For what it’s worth, both Poplar and Grill are expected to join the Windy City Bulls. The whole point of these Exhibit 10 deals is to secure players to the G League roster, as they are eligible for a monetary bonus if they choose to suit up for that specific franchise’s affiliate. Speaking of the training camp roster, keep in mind that the Bulls have filled both their official 15-man roster and all three of their two-way spots. In other words, the training camp competition is going to be all about fighting for minutes rather than roster spots. It’s always possible that someone on an Exhibit 10 deal impresses enough to convince the front office to shake up the two-way spots, but I feel like this is pretty unlikely. The Bulls have kept Emanuel Miller around since last season, while Yuki Kawamura quickly became a fan-favorite at Summer League. And, of course, Lachlan Olbrich isn’t going anywhere after the team spent a second-round selection on him. Billy Donovan of the Chicago Bulls – © Nell Redmond-Imagn Images Andscape’s Marc J Spears recently spoke with Coby White, who has started to put a greater and greater emphasis on giving back to both the Chicago and North Carolina communities. More specifically, White spoke about the importance of showing young, underprivileged youth that gang violence isn’t the answer. The Bulls’ guard attributes basketball to “saving his life,” stressing that many of the people he grew up around ended up in the wrong circles.

“A lot of guys that I grew up with — a lot of them still in Goldsboro — really [are] not doing much, [are] still incarcerated or they’re no longer living,” White told Andscape. “So, I felt like that it was my job to use my platform and where I’m at to help future generations in areas where I grew up — to expose them to new truths, expose them to different types of job avenues, expose them to mental health being real in ways that they can handle those type of situations because it’s not something that’s really talked about, especially in Black communities.”

White shared that Billy Donovan, Patrick Williams, and Arturas Karnisovas all showed up to his most recent event held at UNC. Of course, Spears also asked him about his looming free agency, and White made clear that Chicago is still somewhere he’d love to be:

“I don’t really think too much ahead because I love Chicago. I love being in Chicago. I love the front office. I love my teammates. I love the staff. I built a great relationship with coach Billy Donovan. And for me, if it is meant to be [to] stay Chicago Bull, then I can’t ask for nothing else.”

Walker Kessler has quickly become a hot topic of conversation around the league. The big man has failed to reach an extension with the Jazz and is likely to head into this 2025-26 campaign on an expiring deal. This means the high-end rim protector will be one of the most intriguing players on the market, and we all know the Bulls could use some defense down low! To be clear, the Jazz would have matching rights on any deal, as Kessler would be a restricted free agent. But the Bulls are expected to have enough dough where they could put some real pressure on the franchise. Something to keep an eye on. Reminder: Bleacher Nation Fantasy also has college football! To celebrate the iconic White Out tonight at Penn State, we’re giving away a Drew Allar bonus pick. We’ve slashed his line by 67 percent, so all the Nittany Lions QB needs to do for you to win one leg of your entry is throw for 74.5 yards! He’s averaged 208 yards a game, by the way! Patrick has everything you need to know about tomorrow’s matchup between the Bears and the Raiders. I don’t know about you, but this feels like an early-season must-win for me. ONE WIN AWAY FROM A HOME PLAYOFF SERIES!
