And he’s just been spotted filming again in Sydney.

Alex Dimitriades shot to fame on iconic teen drama Heartbreak High nineties, looks very different these days.

The 51-year-old actor was recently spotted on a film set in Sydney dressed down in a dirty, worn blue jumper over a white shirt, paired with tracksuit bottoms full of holes, trainers, and a tote bag.

Sporting a salt-and-pepper beard and longer hair, the Australian star was almost unrecognisable from his clean-cut TV days.

It’s not yet clear what project Alex is working on, though his most recent role was in the series Bay of Fires.

Alex first rose to fame at just 20 years old, playing high school heartthrob Nick Poulos in teen drama Heartbreak High, a spin-off from the successful film The Heartbreak Kid.

The series, which ran from 1994 to 1999, was a ratings smash, tackling big issues like racism, and went on to air in more than 25 countries worldwide.

It focused on a group of super-cool teens that lived in a warehouse.

But his character met a tragic end and was killed in a boxing accident at the close of the first season.

He went on to build a strong acting career with roles in Blue Murder, Underbelly, Secret Circle, Tidelands and The Slap, as well as the acclaimed film Head On.

These days Alex has also carved out a name for himself on the decks.

Under his stage name DJ Boogie Monster, he’s now one of Sydney’s most in-demand DJs.

Looking back on his early stardom in a 2021 interview with Daily Mail, Alex admitted: “I’m very lucky, in terms of how it was set up and structured.

“ I was a teenager and we did a movie first, The Heartbreak Kid, and that was hugely successful…

“I was like a young new star and they really put me out there.”

He added: “I had no idea what was going on, I was rolling with the punches and I was very, very young and just out there, living the dream I suppose… I knew I was good at it [acting].

“I knew it was something that I had potentially a good future with, but it’s not something I ever imagined doing. It was pretty wild.”

Despite fame hitting at such a young age, Alex insists he always kept his feet firmly on the ground.

He said: “I was normal about it all, people were like, ‘how are you with it all, how’s your life?”

“I remained the same person.

“I started trying to visualise where I wanted to go with this thing and not get caught up with [the idea of] ‘how awesome I am.’”

Heartbreak High was rebooted by Netflix in 2022 but it was axed after three seasons.
