‘Blinded by distrust’ – Tom Brady attacks rivals and defends integrity in astonishing statement ...Middle East

The seven-time Super Bowl champion has spoken and he’s tired of it.

Following the ongoing debate over Tom Brady’s dual roles as a Las Vegas Raiders minority owner and FOX broadcaster, he wants to set the record straight.

Brady said in his most recent newsletter that the backlash stems from ‘paranoia and distrust,’ while reaffirming his commitment to ‘duty and integrity.’

He stated that he believes he has a duty to the game to treat it fair and just, just as the game treated him and that he has a duty to the audience.

Given his ten-year, $375million contract with FOX, Brady clearly has a responsibility to his viewers.

“As a broadcaster,” Brady wrote, “I want everyone who tunes into FOX on Sunday afternoons to feel like they got their money’s worth for the three hours they entrust to our entire team. Those are precious hours for busy, hardworking people.

“We owe them a return on that investment, which is to do our jobs to the best of our abilities.

“For me, it’s to entertain and inform and to help create a great viewing experience by drawing on the deep well of knowledge and wisdom I have gained from playing high level football for nearly thirty years.”

Even while balancing both roles, Brady remained steadfast in his commitment to the Silver and Black, which he reiterated in his newsletter.

“As a limited partner in the Raiders, I want the Silver and Black to return to the glory of those amazing years under Al Davis and John Madden,” Brady continued.

“I want the team to have talented players who have we-first attitudes, who are coachable, who have the right values and do things the right way and know how to do their jobs in pursuit of team success.

“I have a deep desire to help refresh and reinvigorate the culture of a franchise with cherished traditions and a long, storied history in professional football.”

Brady said that he has a ‘moral and ethical duty to the sport,’ insisting that ‘the point where my roles in it intersect is not actually a point of conflict, despite what the paranoid and distrustful might believe.’

He noted that his ‘ethical duty emerges’ from this overlap, with a goal ‘to grow, evolve, and improve the game that has given me everything.’

“When you live through uncertain and untrusting times like we are today, it is very easy to watch a person’s passions and profession intersect, and to believe you’re looking at some sort of dilemma,” Brady said. “Because when you’re blinded by distrust, it’s hard to see anything other than self-interest.

“People who are like that, particularly to a chronic, pathological degree, are telling on themselves. They’re showing you their worldview and how they operate.

“They’re admitting that they can only conceive of interests that are selfish; that they cannot imagine a person doing their job for reasons that are greater than themselves. (These kinds of people make horrible teammates, by the way.)”

People probably don’t want an ‘I’m mightier than thou’ speech from Brady, but he felt compelled to make his point. His heart seems to be in the right place, but that still doesn’t make it any less awkward or problematic when it comes to his two roles.

It’s a new challenge for the NFL and Commissioner Roger Goodell to navigate, adapt to, and find the best solution for.

Last season, the NFL implemented the ‘Brady Rules,’ limiting Brady’s access to the teams whose games he would broadcast.

This season, the NFL adjusted those rules and allowed Brady to attend such production meetings, via Zoom, with coaches and players.

The discussion over what’s fair will persist as long as Brady juggles both roles.

Spoiler alert — Brady isn’t going anywhere any time soon, whether in the owner’s suite or the broadcast booth.

That’s the reality people will have to accept, and according to Brady, there is no conflict of interest. Whether you believe that is up to you.
