Three people have been critically injured in a shooting at a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Dallas.
Kristi Noem, Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, said there had been “multiple injuries and fatalities” and that the suspected shooter was found dead by a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
“While we don’t know motive yet, we know that our ICE law enforcement is facing unprecedented violence against them. It must stop. Please pray for the victims and their families,” she said in a post on X.
Police responded to the incident around 7.30 am local time, according to local ABC affiliate WFAA.
ICE Acting Director Todd Lyons told CNN that “preliminary information is a possible sniper” was behind the shooting.
“It could be employees, it could be civilians that were visiting the facility, it could be detainees,” Lyons said of those who were shot. “At this point, we’re still working through that.”
