Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Emma Belk, who is ranked as one of SwimSwam’s “Best of the Rest” recruits from the High School Class of 2026, has announced her commitment to swim under Coach Ray Looze at Indiana.
“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to further my academic and athletic career at Indiana University. I would love to mention everyone by name but it truly takes a village, thank you to everyone who has supported me unconditionally. Thank you so much to Coach Ray and Coach Cory for this wonderful opportunity. I am so excited to be chosen to be a part of the IU tradition! GO HOOSIERS”
Belk, a senior at Springfield Catholic High School, boasts strong skills in the butterfly and freestyle events, bringing some depth to an already-strong Indiana roster. Swimming for Springfield Aquatics in Springfield, MO, Belk was an A-finalist in the 200 yard butterfly at the Winter Junior Championships – West last December. She also recently competed at the summer edition of the Junior National Championships, making the B-final in the long course version of the event, while also swimming the 100 fly, 50 fly, and 50 breaststroke.
Best Times (SCY):
100 butterfly – 52.93 200 butterfly – 1:58.87 50 freestyle – 23.38 100 freestyle – 50.56 200 freestyle – 1:50.06In 2025, Belk dropped in all of her primary events with the exception of the 200 freestyle. Thus, it seems likely that she could continue to see some major drops and put herself into a strong position prior to arriving at IU. While it will be another year until Belk arrives on IU’s campus next fall, she already brings times that would significantly boost the roster. Despite the 200 butterfly arguably being the best of her events, Belk actually would’ve ranked higher in the 100 butterfly last season. In that event, she would’ve ranked 4th on the roster, only behind current junior Miranda Grana, senior Chiok Sze Yeo, and the now-graduated Ava Whitaker. She also would’ve ranked 7th on the roster in the 200 butterfly, those many of the athletes ahead of her have since graduated. However, Belk will still have some major competition on the roster, as Alex Shackell is joining IU this season, with specialities in the same events.
In 2025, Indiana saw its most successful season yet, with a program-high 4th place finish and 312 points at NCAAs. Though the team took major losses with its senior and graduate class, the Hoosiers have already started to re-build with the addition of Shackell, along with a slew of top recruits and transfers. Belk should be in the position to join another strong Indiana team as the coaching staff has already reeled in multiple top recruits from the class of 2026 including #2 Kayla Han, #11 Paige Downey, and #15 Elizabeth Eichbrecht, along with Eva Rottink (BOTR), Zoe de Fabrique (BOTR), Ava Metzger, Anne Dickinson, Lylah Theriac, and Lucero Mejia Arce.
