Nearly 500,000 units recalled after reports of overheating, burns, and fire hazards

Anker Innovations, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), today announced a voluntary recall of five models of its portable power banks after reports of overheating that may pose fire and burn risks.

The recall affects approximately 481,000 units sold in the United States between August 2023 and June 2025 at major retailers including Amazon, Best Buy, Target, Walmart, and Anker’s official online store.

Reason for Recall

Anker has received 33 reports of incidents involving the recalled power banks, including four minor burn injuriesand one report of significant property damage. The company determined that the lithium-ion batteries in these models could overheat during use, creating a fire hazard.

Consumer Guidance

Consumers who own one of the recalled power banks should:

Stop using the product immediately. Visit  www.anker.com/rc2506 to verify if their product is affected. Submit a claim by providing photos of the model and serial number, along with the word “RECALLED” written clearly on the device in permanent marker. Choose between a full cash refund or an Anker gift card.

Anker is working closely with the CPSC to ensure safe handling and disposal of the recalled units, as lithium-ion batteries cannot be placed in household trash or standard recycling streams.

“At Anker, customer safety is our highest priority,” said a spokesperson for Anker Innovations. “We are taking swift action to remove these products from circulation and to provide customers with safe and reliable alternatives.”
