ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Fall arrived with a bang this afternoon! A Yellow Alert remains up for the chance for thunderstorms, a few of which may be strong with gusty winds. The greatest threat of this through the evening will be in the Finger Lakes region and south of Rochester, as a second wave moves south. Any storm that does develop will produce locally heavy rain, which is actually a good thing! But lightning is also possible, so keep an ear to the sky if kids have any sports outdoors this evening.
Any storms fizzle, and we’ll be left with scattered showers and the slight chance of some thunder Monday night. Some showers will continue into Tuesday. While the storm threat is lower on Tuesday, we may still see some lightning during the afternoon. We’ll see a lull in precipitation on Wednesday, with a mostly cloudy sky and mainly dry weather. If you need to get some yardwork done or mow the lawn in the next few days, Wednesday will be your day. Another batch of rain will arrive on Thursday.
After Thursday’s rain, we should be entering another quiet and dry stretch of weather, with some sun returning on Friday, followed by a nice weekend. Both Saturday and Sunday look dry at this point, with a partly cloudy to mostly sunny sky. Temperatures will hover in the lower to mid 70s for the next week or so, which is about average for Rochester in late September.
