ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Strong Memorial Hospital will celebrate a milestone on Monday morning in its goal to build a nine-story patient bed tower by early 2027.

Crews are expected to raise and secure the final metal beam in the tower. With the frame complete, crews will begin building an expanded emergency department and over 100 private patient rooms.

The expansion is expected to triple the size of Strong’s emergency department. The tower is being built west of the hospital’s main entrance on Elmwood Avenue. Crews broke ground on the project in September 2023.
