Like most people, I lead a very busy life that sometimes requires an energy boost. To help keep me going, I’ve tried my fair share of energy drinks. And I'm definitely not alone. The global energy and sport drink market is worth billions of dollars, with more products being added almost daily, it seems. You're probably familiar with big names like Red Bull and Monster, but after trying lots of brands, Celsius has quickly become my go-to brand for several reasons. It’s low in calories (each of them is just 10 calories per can), provides just the right boost of caffeine and comes in a wide variety of flavors, so I never get bored. I've also found that when I drink Celsius, I don’t experience sugar crashes or jittery shakes, and unlike other energy drinks, it doesn’t upset my stomach. Because I was already a fan, I jumped at the chance to taste my way through 40 different Celsius flavors. (Nope, that's not a typo!) Celsius just dropped a new line of fizz-free drinks, so it seemed like the perfect time to add those to the mix and see how they stacked up against the classic flavors. To find the best Celsius flavor, my husband and I tasted our way through the drinks over the course of a few weeks. I'd had many of the flavors before, so I thought I knew which one was my favorite, but after this mega taste test, I found some new favorites. Read on to find out which ones came out on top.Related:I Tested Stanley and Yeti Tumblers to See Which One Deserves a Spot in Your Cup Holder?? What Are Celsius Energy Drinks?
Celsius launched in 2005 with the mission to create a “better-for-you” energy drink. The drinks include natural caffeine sources, like green tea extract and guarana, metabolism-boosting ingredients and no high-fructose corn syrup or aspartame. Its rise in popularity skyrocketed in the last five years, partially because of how many flavors the company offers. Today, Celsius is sold worldwide and is a major competitor in the energy drink space. The brand is widely available at supermarkets, convenience stores and big box retailers, like Walmart and Target.Related: The Ultimate List of 14 Gatorade Flavors—Ranked

How I Tested These Celsius Energy Drinks
When I decided to try every Celsius flavor, I wanted to really put them to the test. Instead of rushing through them, I spread out the experience over several weeks, sipping one each day before heading to the gym, hiking, swimming or just tackling an active day. This gave me a chance to see how each one tasted and allowed me the time to jot down notes about the flavors. The fizz-free line was especially interesting to me, since I often reach for an energy drink pre-workout and carbonation can sometimes feel too heavy, particularly when I haven’t had a lot to eat.My husband also tried each flavor wth me to give his opinion. In the end, we both agreed on the top five, but it wasn’t an easy decision.
How Many Flavors Does Celsius Have?
40 Celsius Flavors, Ranked from Worst to Best
Ready? Let's go through all 40 of them—ranked from least favorite to most favorite.
40. Celsius Tropical Vibe Sparkling Starfruit Pineapple Edition
This is supposed to be a tropical, tangy, slightly tart drink made with a juicy pineapple sweetness, but that’s not what I got at all. I don't care for star fruit, so I am sure that swayed my opinion, but this tasted like pineapple that's started to go bad to me. I poured it out, and it was the only one of these drinks I did not finish.
39. Celsius Sparkling Kiwi Guava
Like star fruit, my husband and I aren't fans of most guava-flavored drinks or foods. We did finish this drink, which was supposed to be a tropical and tangy flavor, but it was at the bottom for us. If you like guava, though, this is a good option because it does have a strong guava taste on the back end.
38. Celsius Sparkling Strawberry Guava
Like the previous guava-flavored drink, this one wasn’t a favorite, but it did have more of the strawberry flavor upfront, so the guava was kind of drowned out. It’s supposed to be fruity and slightly tart, like a tropical summer drink. I got the fruit and tart, but it wasn’t one I’d drink if I wanted something more refreshing.
37. Celsius Oasis Vibe Sparkling Prickly Pear Lime Edition
This is supposed to have a lightly sweet cactus fruit with zesty lime flavor, but it tasted like weak lime with pear juice. I was definitely not impressed and I think it could have been better if the lime or the pear were stronger. Overall, it wasn't awful, just not great.
36. Celsius Sparkling Fuji Apple Pear
This drink surprised me because I love apples and I love pears, but the combination of them in this drink tasted more like an apple-scented item (think a scented candle), rather than the flavor of the actual fruits.
35. Celsius Sparkling Mango Passionfruit
This is supposed to be a smooth mango balanced with tart passionfruit, but it didn't taste like mango or passion fruit, in my opinion. It wasn't a bad drink, but it definitely didn't have the fruit flavors I expected, so I ranked it low because I wanted more from it.Related: I Tried 14 Store-Bought Lemonades and the Winner Won By a Landslide
34. Celsius Sparkling Strawberry Passionfruit
This flavor wasn’t for me because it was too heavy on the passionfruit. The tang overpowered the strawberry, making it less enjoyable compared to the more balanced Celsius flavors I’ve tried.
33. Celsius Galaxy Vibe Sparkling Strawberry Watermelon Edition
This has more strawberry than watermelon, but it is tangier than strawberry on the back end. I would have liked more of a blend, but overall, I thought it was a decent drink. It ended up in the back of the pack because there were other flavors that I enjoyed much more.
32. Celsius Essentials Dragonberry
The next eight drinks are all from the Essentials line, and there's a reason for that. All of these have higher caffeine amounts than the other drinks Celsius makes, and I think you can taste that. That's not to say these are bad, and these are definitely my go-to drinks on gym days, but if you aren't prepared for that unmistakable flavor of artificial caffeine, it can be off-putting.This flavor, which is a blend of dragonfruit and berries, is fruity and bright, but I felt like the dragonfruit flavor got drowned out and diluted by the taste of the berries. It was an OK drink, but it tasted too artificial.
31. Celsius Essentials Orangesicle
I love orange-flavored drinks, but Celsius makes better orange flavors than this one. It tasted more like watered-down Fanta. It wasn't terrible, but it's not in my top flavors.
30. Celsius Essentials Mango Tango
This drink has a strong scent of mango, but the flavor is a lot more subtle. It's more tropical than straight mango, but it does seem to get stronger the more you drink it. Not bad, but not one I'd reach for often.
29. Celsius Essentials Fruit Burst
This is like a fruit punch flavor. Have you ever had Hawaiian Punch with ice in it, and when the ice melted, it was watered down, but still good, just less sweet? That's exactly what this tastes like.
28. Celsius Essentials Grape Slush
This is a sweet grape flavor with a frosty slushie vibe. It tastes more like a Grape Sno Cone than anything, and that's my favorite flavor to get on a hot day. I really like this flavor, but it has an odd aftertaste because of the caffeine.
27. Celsius Essentials Watermelon Ice
I love all things watermelon, and this watermelon flavor is crisp, but not deep. It has a burst of sweetness, but not a strong watermelon flavor. If you like a light watermelon flavor, this is a great option.
26. Celsius Essentials Blue Crush
This is a blue raspberry-inspired flavor with a tangy twist and a lightly sweet kick. I like it a lot! Again, what made this rank low is the same aftertaste from the caffeine. I can drink it before gym, though, and it's a perfect pick-me-up.Related: What is Blue Raspberry? Everything You Need to Know About the Bright Blue Flavor
25. Celsius Essentials Cherry Limeade
This is a great cherry limeade flavor! I think it is more like a Sonic Cherry Limeade (with lots of ice) than a candy limeade flavor, which is perfect for a drink. Related: The Fan-Favorite Sonic Drink That's Shockingly Easy to Make at Home
24. Celsius Sparkling Cola
This drink tastes like RC Cola. Some people would call it a flat Coke flavor, but it reminded me of the cheap sodas we got as kids. Not everyone would call that a compliment, but I actually like the nostalgic flavor.
23. Celsius Sparkling Mango Lemonade
My husband really enjoyed this one. I thought it was okay, but I would have preferred more mango flavor. The lemon was more powerful in this drink, with subtle hints of the mango.
22. Celsius Sparkling Orange
Like the previous orange drink, this tasted like a flat or watered-down orange soda, which isn't bad. It doesn't have the bitter caffeine aftertaste, though, so it ranks higher.Related: We Asked a Floridian to Taste & Rank 11 Orange Juice Brands and the Winner Surprised Him
21. Celsius Sparkling Green Apple Cherry
This flavor had more actual apple flavor than the previous apple drink, which I appreciated. The cherry flavor was more like cough syrup flavoring, but that somehow worked when combined with the tangy apple taste.
20. Celsius Sparkling Wild Berry
This tastes exactly like you'd expect. If you've had mixed berry drinks, you already know this flavor. I think it's pleasant and definitely one I'd drink more often.
19. Celsius Sparkling Kiwi Strawberry
This is a perfect kiwi strawberry drink. It's the best of both fruits and well-balanced. If you like this flavor blend in other drinks, this is a flavor worth seeking out. Related: Wait, Can You Eat Kiwi Skin?
18. Celsius Sparkling Strawberry Lemonade
This drink was bright and tangy, a perfect lemonade blended with strawberry flavoring, with a great balance of sweetness and citrus. I enjoyed it at the beach and it was very good!
17. Celsius Cosmic Vibe Sparkling Fruit Punch Edition
Unlike the previous fruit punch flavor in the Essentials line, this option was stronger and more flavorful and didn't have the off-putting bitterness. If you're a fruit punch fan, give this one a try.
16. Celsius Fizz-Free Dragon Fruit Lime
I wasn't too sure about the non-carbonated drinks, but they quickly became some of my favorites. This drink is very light, with a subtle fruit flavor, and tastes more like green tea with a hint of lime.Related: This Is the #1 Best Thing To Do With Dragon Fruit, According to Produce Pros
15. Celsius Sparkling Watermelon
As I have said, I love watermelon-flavored everything, and I appreciate that these drinks are more like a light watermelon candy. This one is sweet, refreshing, but not sticky-feeling, which makes it more like a refreshing juice.
14. Celsius Sparkling Lemon Lime
This is the perfect zesty lemon and lime duo. It's light and citrusy with a clean, sparkling finish that reminded me of Starry soda.Related: I Made the Viral ‘Homemade Sprite’ Recipe and It Was Fresh, Fizzy and So Much Fun
13. Celsius Sparkling Grape Rush
This flavor is reminiscent of grape soda, and I really enjoyed how robust it was. It's sweet, but not too sweet, and it's very grape-forward, but more like a candy than a natural flavor.
12. Celsius Sparkling Cherry Cola
Celsius has two cola drinks, but I wasn't aware of that until this taste test. This is one of my top flavors because it has a great cherry cola flavor that's more like something you'd get in an old-fashioned soda shop. It's not overly sweet and it's a little flatter than the cola you get in a bottle, but somehow that makes it feel more authentic.
11. Celsius Peach Vibe Sparkling White Peach Edition
This is a lightly sweet, mellow white peach flavor. It's smooth with a hint of floral notes. I love peach, and this one is great because of how light it is. Some peach-flavored foods and drinks are overly sweet, but this one is just right. Also, I don't know how to fully explain it, but it tastes "pink."
10. Celsius Astro Vibe Sparkling Blue Razz Edition
This tastes exactly like a blue Jolly Rancher. I love this one and so does my husband. It has a punch of sour berry with a sweet, sugary finish. It's definitely more artificial flavoring than a natural raspberry taste, but it's so good that it doesn't matter.
9. Celsius Fizz-Free Blue Razz Lemonade
This has a weak blue raspberry taste, but a stronger lemonade flavor. It's more sour than sweet, which is great when you want a change from the sweeter energy drink flavors.
8. Celsius Arctic Vibe Sparkling Frozen Berry Edition
This tastes exactly like a white Air Head: a sweet-tart flavor that combines citrus, berry and tropical candy flavors. It’s both lightly sweet and slightly sour. This drink brings on the nostalgia!
7. Celsius Playa Vibe Sparkling Piña Colada
My husband said this tasted like a flavored coconut water drink. It reminded me of sipping a drink on the beach. It definitely gives off vacation vibes, which is always a good mode to tap into.Related: I Tried 13 Popular Coconut Water Brands and the Winner Was a 10/10
6. Celsius Fizz-Free Pink Lemonade
I enjoy pink lemonade when it's done right, and this drink nails it. It's perfectly balanced with sweet and tangy notes, subtle fruit notes and lots of citrus. It's a great drink, and the fact that it's fizz-free really drives the classic pink lemonade connection home.
5. Celsius Fizz-Free Raspberry Açai + Green Tea
This drink had the perfect raspberry tea flavor. I didn't get much acai flavor, but the green tea and raspberry combo is like something I'd make at home. I didn't get much of an "energy drink" vibe from this, and I think that's the point. It gives you that boost of energy without the fizz and odd flavors.Related: 10 of the Best Green Teas to Try Right Now
4. Celsius Fizz-Free Peach Mango + Green Tea
This drink is sooo good, especially if you're a tea lover. It's like a light, sweet peach tea with hints of mango syrup. I was surprised by how good it was, and I'll definitely be buying more of this flavor soon!
3. Celsius Sparkling Raspberry Peach
This is one of the flavors I'd never had before and I am so glad I tried it. It blends juicy peach sweetness with the slightly tart bite of raspberries and has a refreshing balance of flavors with a sparkling finish. I absolutely loved it!
2. Celsius Retro Vibe Sparkling Sherbet Slush
Do you like sherbet? I love it! I'm not a fan of ice cream, but I will gobble up bowls of sherbet. My favorite way to enjoy it, though, is by drinking it. All you do is mix sherbet with lemon-lime soda for a fruity, sweet drink that is refreshing and complex because of the layered flavors. If my sherbet concoction were an energy drink, it would be this flavor, which was a fun and delicious surprise for me.
1. Celsius Fantasy Vibes Sparkling Mandarin Marshmallow
Final Thoughts
I have to admit that it was nearly impossible to crown a single winner. Celsius has such a wide variety of flavors that choosing one over the others felt unfair. Each can delivered something refreshing, energizing and unique, and I enjoyed most of them for different reasons.
