Sophie Mokhiber of Fort Myers, Florida, has committed to swim and study at Liberty University, beginning in the 2026–2027 school year. The wide-ranging freestyler trains year-round with T2 Aquatics and attends Community School Of Naples.
She confirmed the commitment to SwimSwam in an email, writing:

Mokhiber’s target meet for the 2024–25 high school season was the Florida High School Athletic Association 1A State Championship, which took place in November. She touched 11th in both of her individual events, the 200 and 500 free, recording times of 1:43.43 and 5:06.74. She also contributed a split of 53.95 on the 400 free relay that took 20th.
She wrapped up her season at the Florida Senior Championships a few months later, where she clocked multiple lifetime bests. She broke five minutes for the first time in the 500 free with 4:59.63 for 17th place and logged 2:15.90 for 62nd and a new PB in the 200 fly. Her highest finish came in the 1650 free, where she hit the wall 12th in 17:35.83. She also swam to 61st in the 200 IM with a season-best 2:12.91, 16th in the 1000 free with a season-best 10:22.48, and 34th in the 200 free with a season-best 1:52.87. She led off the 400 free relay that finished 17th with a split of 53.07.
Mokhiber’s best time in the 200 free (1:52.84) stems from the 2024 edition of the Florida Senior State meet, while her 17:31.60 mark in the 1650 was set at the RAFC Winter Classic in December.

Under the direction of Liberty’s first and only head coach Jake Shellenberger, the Flames decisively won the 2025 Atlantic Sun Championship (ASUN) title by 168.5 points.
The conference meet scores ‘A’ and ‘B’ finals, she would have been 11th out of prelims in the 500 free and into the ‘B’ final, with her current best less than a second shy of the 4:58.62 required to make the championship heat last year. In the 1650 free, which is a contested as a timed final, her fastest time would have slotted her in at 10th. It took times of 51.59 and 1:52.08 to earn a second swim in the 100 and 200 free, respectively.
On the team’s 2024-25 depth chart, Mokhiber’s bests would have situated her fourth in the 1650 free, seventh in the 500 free, ninth in the 200 free, and 14th in the 100 free. Sophomore Kamryn Cannings led the way in the 100 and 200 free, as she notched times of 48.45 and 1:44.10. Junior Eden Troxell led the way in the 500 and 1650 free, courtesy of her 4:53.91 and 16:43.88 clockings.
Mokhiber joins Cami Schwartz, Ella Gotham, and Grace Descent in publicly committing to swim in Liberty’s class of 2030.
