ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Another cool start with temperatures in the mid 40s in the Flower City, but just to our west Buffalo is waking up to the 60s. That’s a sign of things to come for us as south wind takes over and brings in some nice warmth and a little humidity. We’ll shoot through the 50s, 60s, 70s, all the way up to the low 80s this afternoon, making for a perfect end to the summer season! Should be mostly cloudy to start, with some decent clearing this afternoon and evening. You’ll feel the humidity, but it won’t be oppressive by any means.
Tomorrow we finally see the return of rain. Showers will also develop into thunder in the afternoon, but the atmosphere should not be unstable enough to create any severe thunderstorms, so we stay Green on the Threat Tracker barring a major change in the forecast. More showers and thunder on Tuesday, but again nothing severe, and all in all the rain from both days should amount to half an inch to an inch. Great to help fight the drought, but not enough to get us out of it.
Seasonably mild temperatures return for the rest of the week, with another chance for scattered showers on Thursday. There’s some hefty disagreement between the models as to the extent of that rain, so right now we’ll just keep it as a general threat for showers and update as we draw closer to Thursday. Next weekend should be mainly dry, cool to mild, with a mix of sun and clouds.
