OGDEN, N.Y. — The Gillett Road Bridge in the Town of Ogden is now reopened after being closed for about two years after being shutdown by the state Department of Transportation.
The bridge, which crosses the CSX railroad, was shutdown in December of 2023 by the DOT due to severe structural issues.
In 2024, local leaders called on CSX to fix the bridge after several complaints from residents. They issued a formal letter requiring the company to repair or replace the bridge or face legal action.

Monroe County officials say the bridge has been repaired, inspected, and is now safe for motorists.
“This project is a testament to what happens when government leaders and residents worktogether and refuse to let corporate inaction endanger our community,” said County Executive Adam Bello.
