Hall has experience to be Greeley mayor

I encourage you to vote for Dale Hall for our next Greeley mayor. I have worked closely with Dale when we both served in the Weld County Sheriff’s office, though his time as Weld County commissioner, and recently during his last five years on City Council.

Dale has strong roots in the community so is driven to keep Greeley a quality community for all residents. He has a conservative view of fiscal responsibility, does a good analysis of budgets and can work through the multiple projects currently in progress in Greeley. I am very excited for all that Greeley has to offer and feel we need the strong leadership of Dale Hall to be sure each one is on track with good accountability of city funds.

This is when experience matters, so please join me in being sure there is strong oversite with Dale Hall as our next mayor of Greeley. Vote for Dale Hall.

Fighting hate with hate is a fool’s game

In the wake of two horrific acts of violence that occurred on one day, I have heard a plethora of conflicting, hateful rhetoric and unfounded accusations. We have witnessed escalation of conflict and divisions. We have created an environment in which further violence is inevitable.

But, please. Stop. Wait a minute. Hold the show. Please consider a counter-narrative.

Radicalization neither knows nor needs adjectives. It neither knows nor needs categorization. Left, right, Christian, Islamic, Republican, Democrat and other descriptors are irrelevant in the context of violence, radicalization, and extremism.

We do ourselves, as a community and as society, a disservice when we blame one another — across groups, religions, and ideologies — for violent attacks perpetrated by radicalized individuals. Extremism and radicalization are society’s problem.

We would stand a much greater chance of addressing extremism and radicalization by investigating the root causes and taking appropriate action against the individuals and groups responsible for radicalizing others. We know who many of them are. We know their tactics.

Fighting hate with divisive hateful words and actions is a fool’s game. And it appears we have become a country of fools.

Align human activity to build a future

The Earth did not vote for him, but Trump said it did.

The follies that are ours and/or blame on others is a function of conscience. Being is mostly subconscious. There are innate actions and reactionary responses to our environment that result in experienced events. Choice is a fence between rational and irrational outcomes. It can be shared choice or individual choice. Consequences are the result of choices.

This piece is about education. When we refuse to learn from our experiences and refuse to examine, relate to and nurture our environment, natural consequences are the outcome. That means, we must decide, up front, how to manage this natural resource we call The Earth. It will be our home until we make it uninhabitable for all humanity or a portion of humanity.

The dice we roll now are at a global level. Whether we consciously choose or subconsciously choose to act rationally in response to our waste is a function of how well politicians can transfer from nationalism to globalism. There is plenty of incentive economically to go green and still respond appropriately.

Those who are truly focused on what Americans are doing to the Earth, predict that we are at the inflection period for acting in a responsible way to adjust our behavior. Let us align human activity to build a future rather than destroy it.
