Barrs replaces defensive lineman Elijah Simmons, who was signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers off the Cardinals’ practice squad on Wednesday.
Simmons was an undrafted rookie out of Tennessee who had four tackles for Arizona in the preseason.
Barrs is a former Arizona Wildcat who spent time with the Cardinals in training camp after he was one of the most productive defenders in the UFL for the Arlington Renegades.
He had 102 tackles, 13 tackles for loss and five sacks over 51 games at Arizona (2019-22) and made Second Team All-Pac 12 in his third year.
Barrs originally signed with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent out of USC, where he had 18 tackles in 13 games.
